One thing about being in the media is you have an outlet to editorialize whatever you like. If I want to write Kobe Bryant should be traded to the Knicks no one can stop me from doing that.
So, when Hector Longo from the Eagle-Tribune wrote his “Bye Bye Brady” article I didn’t immediately dismiss it. I was curious to read his rationale.
Here is a part of it.
Are Tom Brady’s best days behind him?
My opinion? Yes. He’s still elite, top three or four. But he’s not the best of the best any more. We’ve seen too much in big games the last handful of years.
Deal him. Deal him now, while you can have access to some really high bidders.
I’m not talking for a bag of footballs and some ex-CFL scrubbinis either.
Brady, even at age 35, should command a deal of at the least Ricky Williams proportions (somebody’s entire draft) or maybe even to the extremes that the Vikings paid Dallas for Herschel Walker (two 1sts, two 2nds, two 3rds).
I get the premise of what he is saying, but it is ridiculous, you don’t trade a Top 5 QB for some draft picks. The part that is flawed besides the fact we are talking about Tom Brady for goodness sake. is that Ricky Williams and Herschel Walker were running backs, if you can get that type of value for an RB you do it.
Brady has at least 3-4 good years left and many franchises wish they could have the success the Patriots have had in last five years even if it didn’t end with a Super Bowl win.
Settle down Hector, settle down.
