Stop snitching! That’s apparently what the NBA felt when they handed Hawks GM Danny Ferry with a $15,000 fined. Rajon Rondo was suspended one game for making contact with a referee during the Atlanta Hawk matchup on Monday night. However, Rajon Rondo wasn’t hit with a technical or even a foul during the incident. It’s unclear if the ref didn’t feel the contact or didn’t see it as intentional, but whatever the reason he was not punished for the incident until the following day.
Why you asked?
According to ESPN, Ferry was fined for inappropriate interaction with the game officials. Ferry decided to hand over a DVD of Rondo bumping Mott after the game. Players and team personal are prohibited from approaching game officials, which is why the league had to fine Ferry as well. I’m sure $15,000 is chump change to a GM, but I guess after seeing the Celtics go on a 19 point lead to squeeze out the victory against the Hawks any blow to the organization is a victory in his eyes.
