New York Giants’ Tom Coughlin Distraught over Season’s End

After winning a Super Bowl just last February, many fans assumed this time of the year that the Giants would be prepping for a run at defending their title.

In reality, the New York Giants were eliminated from playoff contention after their last game of the season. After getting off to a scorching 6-2 start this season, the Giants faltered. Finishing 9-7, they went a disappointing 3-5 over the rest of the season.

Head coach Tom Coughlin is not happy, and recently elaborated while talking to WFAN’s Mike Francesa.

I can’t even describe how it hurts. I don’t know what to do, ” Coughlin said.

I’m walking around here like a crazy man. I am. I don’t know what to do with myself. We shouldn’t be doing this right now. The pain of it is almost indescribable.”

“When you have things in your grasp — and our team has developed a reputation for playing well under those circumstances — and I think that’s what’s so frustrating for you and for everyone else who follows our team so closely,” Coughlin said. “’OK, they’ve got the thing set, the table is set for the Giants, this is where they normally step up and play extremely well.’ … But we’re taking it all apart right now as a coaching staff, and hopefully we can provide some answers.”

I think the Giants are a case of that past Champion that feels they can turn it on whenever they wanted to.

Ultimately it cost them, and now questions surround the former Super Bowl champs as they head into the off-season.
