This was a must win game for the Atlanta Falcons, and a game played with house money for the Seahawks. Matt Ryan had one job: to silence his critics. While Russell Wilson’s sole job was to continue to elevate his game, and continue to show why he’s one of the most promising rookies in the game.
The game got rolling early for the Falcons, who held dominance over the game for 4 quarters before the Seahawks offense got clicking. It took the Seahawks 3 quarters to put points on the board, after Wilson connected with Golden Tate for a 29 yard TD. The Seahawks rousing comeback came with 9 minutes 19 seconds left in the 4th quater when they were down 21-27 vs the Falcons. A heart stopping touchdown with 34 seconds remaining in the game by Marshawn Lynch finally took the Seahawks over the Falcons.
But the Falcons were not done, there still remained time go down the field to attempt the field goal, which is what Matt Ryan did. An inexplicable time out called by Carroll to ice kicker Matt Bryan only gave him another chance to be the hero, and he was successful. The Falcons redeemed themselves and did what so many figured was impossible for them to do, win a post season game with Matt Ryan.
Ryan completed 24 of 35 for 25o yards, and two touch downs. Wilson did his part to bring the Seahawks back, despite a very slow start, Wilson was 24 of 36 for 385 yards two touch downs. The Falcons have overcome this hurdle, but the burden has been far from lifted as they await the potent 49’ers next week for a chance to the Super Bowl.
