The Minneapolis StarTritube broke the news today that Lambeau Field will halt serving beer to spectators after the first half of Saturday’s Vikings vs Packers game.
The news comes in conjunction with a call for Lambeau security to be extra vigilant of rowdy fan activity. Also taken into account is the fact that both teams are long standing rivals, and that usually leads to heightened violence in the crowd. Last month, a Minnesota man was charged with disorderly conduct after getting into a physical altercation in the parking lot in Green Bay.
Lambeau chief of security Doug Collins stated the following:
We are asking fans to enjoy the game responsibly and also help us out by reporting poor conduct to stadium and law enforcement personnel, either in person, or by text at the number posted in the stadium
A noble move by Packers management to consider the overall well-being of their fans both at the stadium and getting home. Sounds like a great plan to me, no game is worth getting arrested and or beat up over.
