10 wins in the NFL just doesn’t hold the same type of value as it did before apparently.
After finishing 10-6 with the Chicago bears, Lovie Smith was fired as the head coach this off-season. While there have been numerous openings around the league from head coaching jobs to defensive coordinator jobs, Lovie Smith has remained unemployed. Apparently he intends to stay that way.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Lovie plans to sit out this upcoming NFL season. Hoping to return as a head coach in 2014.
Compiling a 84-66 record over 9 years as the Bears coach, Smith peaked in 2006 with a Super Bowl appearance against Peyton Manning and the Colts.
In my opinion Smith is a good coach. I hope another team gives him another opportunity because he certainly deserves it.
