As we’ve reported, the Eagles are trying to pursue Chip Kelly and pair him with Michael Vick. If the hire does happen, Pro Football Talk is reporting that Michael Vick will still want his $15.5 million salary he is due for 2013.
Vick at this point has no intentions of lowering that demand, and he would like the Eagles to honor the terms of the 6 year $100 million contract he signed two years ago.
The only way Vick can still be expecting that salary is if he and his agent are aware that other teams out there will pay $15.5 million or something very close.
I think Vick is bluffing at this point, and just posturing. Kelly’s system fits Vick, and he’d be crazy to go else where if the Eagles will pay at least half of the $15.5 million and allow him to play with guys he’s familiar with.
