The talk around the NBA for a while now has been the repeated attempts of the Memphis Grizzlies to trade swing man Rudy Gay.
Gay, an extremely good player, is making over $16 million this season. A number reportedly a bit too high for the Grizzlies liking. Scheduled to make over $37 million over the next two years, it appears the time may be now for the two sides to part.
It appears the Grizzlies thought they found a trade partner in the Timberwolves, but that fell apart quickly.
Per ESPN1500 Minnesota, Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations David Kahn turned down the trade offer immediately.
While we’re not sure exactly what the Grizzlies were asking for in return, apparently Kahn wanted no part of the high salary owed to Gay. Whether the Grizzlies asked for Kevin Love or Ricky Rubio, Kahn has made it clear he likes his squad as is.
