It’s been a long time since the New England Patriots have won a Super Bowl. Yes they have participated in and lost two to the Giants, but haven’t won since 2005 after winning back to back titles.
Patriots linebacker Rob Ninkovich is a new aged Patriot trying to learn the Patriot way. Even though media types and analyst may sometimes treat and refer to the Patriots as a dynasty, Ninkovich told WEEI that this group of Patriots can not live off the rings of the past, and the Pats are not a dynasty.
“That whole era is over with. It’s gone,” said Ninkovich of the team that won Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII and XXXIX. “So this is a whole new team. It’s a different bunch of guys. We all have to experience it and learn for ourselves what it’s like. Getting in the Super Bowl last year and losing left a bad taste in my mouth.
“I would have liked to get back this year, but that wasn’t the way it happened. You take all the lessons in life and learn from them, and put your best foot forward the next year.”
I applaud Ninkovich for saying it. I understand some will wonder why a Patriots player felt the need to say but at least he’s realistic about where his team is right now.
