Yesterday we reported on the new that either Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson or his agent Bus Cook were angling to get the rookie a new contract.
Today after his agent disputed such a claim in a profane manner, Wilson is speaking up to clear the matter up completely. Wilson spoke with Peter King of Sports Illustrated, and again let it be known he is not seeking a new contract or restructuring of his deal.
“I speak for myself, and I never demanded or asked for a restructured contract … I have complete understanding and respect for the new CBA rules … Anyone who knows me knows I play for the love of the game. I play for the challenge of being the best one day and know I have a long way to go.”
Wilson was referring to the fact that under the rules of the CBA he cannot restructure his deal until the final game of his third season or in Wilson’s case, 2014.
