The Buffalo Bills have struggled to put out a winning product on the field for many years now. When winning isn’t happening, finger pointing usually ensues. And when your quarterback hasn’t exactly played elite, he usually takes the most blame.
Ryan Fitzpatrick didn’t have a very good 2012 season and there has been talk throughout the Bills organization about the need for a franchise quarterback.
Fitzpatrick’s number 1 receiver Stevie Johnson recently made it clear that Fitzpatrick shouldn’t just be dumped for someone new without a competition.
Per Buffalo News: “If we went out and got another quarterback, who knows what’ll happen? Fitz may still win, or the other guy my win,” Johnson said.
“Let it happen like that. He is a good quarterback. We’ve all seen that. Obviously, they may bring somebody else in. I just hope it leads to competition. I think Fitz is one of those competitors. He may come out with the job again.”
I always respect a player coming to the defense of another teammate.
Fitzpatrick obviously hasn’t been the best, but competition brings out the best in everybody. Let’s see if the Bills agree with Stevie.
