 Ribs

With the big game right around the corner, I wanted to pass along some food and drink recipes that I thought you and your readers would enjoy while watching the league’s best teams go head-to-head on the gridiron.

If you’re looking to kick your appetizers up a notch, see below for recipes for booze-infused ribs and wings. In need of a refreshing cocktail? The Bulleit Bourbon Basin Street is a great option to enjoy during the game.

Whether you’re watching for the game, the halftime show or the commercials, these recipes will ensure that your Super Bowl viewing party is a total success.

What is it: Cream Soda Braised Ribs, Glazed With a Chipotle Captain Morgan Black Spiced Rum BBQ Sauce

What’s in it:

Chipotle Captain Morgan Black Spiced Rum BBQ Sauce:

  • 8 ounce can chipotle peppers
  • 2 cups  BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon  molasses
  • 2 tablespoons Captain Morgan Black Spiced Rum
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup orange juice

Blend ingredients together until smooth.

The Rub for the Ribs

  • 2 racks of St. Louis ribs (about 4 pounds)
  • 2 tablespoons of smoked paprika
  • 2 cups of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon  cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoon of ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon of allspice
  • 4 shots of Captain Morgan Black Spiced Rum
  • 1 can of cream soda

Combine paprika, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger powder, and allspice to create the dry rub.

How it works: Rub dry rub all over ribs and season with salt and pepper. Place in a “hotel pan” or roasting pan. Add enough cream soda to cover. Add 4 shots of Captain Morgan Black Spiced Rum. Cover with foil. Pre-heat oven to 375°F and place pan in the oven, cooking for approximately 2.5 hours, until the ribs are tender and the rib bone is showing. The meat will pull of the rib, but not easily. Finish on the grill on medium heat for about 15 minutes and baste with Chipotle Captain Morgan Black Spiced Rum BBQ sauce.

Why it’s great for the big game: You’ll be the “Captain” of the party when you show up with these delicious ribs. This recipe from celebrity chef Spike Mendelsohn is a crowd favorite and will take your Super Bowl viewing party to the next level.

Wings

What it is: Crown Wings

What’s in it:

  • ⅓ cup Crown Royal Canadian Whisky
  • ⅓ cup honey, SueBee
  • ¼ cup soy sauce, Kikkoman
  • 2 tablespoons Thai chili sauce
  • 1 packet (0.75-ounce) stir-fry seasoning, Sun Bird
  • 2 teaspoons crushed garlic, Gourmet Garden
  • 4 pounds chicken wing drumettes
  • 3 scallions (green onions), finely chopped (optional)
  • ¼ cup chopped peanuts, Planters® (optional)

How it works: In a large bowl, combine whisky, honey, soy sauce, chili sauce, stir-fry seasoning, and garlic. Add drumettes, tossing to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and marinate in refrigerator for at least 3 hours, preferably overnight.

Set up grill for direct cooking over medium-high heat. Oil grate when ready to start cooking. Let drumettes stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Place on hot, oiled grill. Cook for 12 to 18 minutes or until cooked through, turning occasionally. Transfer chicken to a platter. Sprinkle with chopped scallions and peanuts (optional).

Why it’s great for the big game:  How can you do Super Bowl without some great wings?! The incredible sauce is made from Crown Royal Canadian whisky, giving them a little kick! Grab a wing, cheer hard and enjoy the football game.
