This past weekend, Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez won a playoff game for just the first time in his illustrious career. A great last second win, one might think that the thrill would convince Gonzalez to give his career at least one more season.
If you talk to his backup Michael Palmer, it actually pushed him even close to retirement.
Per USA Today Sports: “He told me today he’s moving up to 97-percent sure after that win last week,” backup tight end Michael Palmer told USA TODAY Sports Thursday.
“From what I can get from him, if we win the Super Bowl, I think he’ll ride off into the sunset.”
With so much attention being drawn by Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, many people have forgotten that it looks like Gonzalez will call it quits as well.
We’ll have to see if the Falcons are able to keep his career alive with another win against the 49ers.
