Ah, the NFL combine, the last place where promising college football hopefuls can showcase their true talents before testing the waters in the draft. Normally the majority of a prospects’ time is spent doing physical activity and press interviews talking about such matters, that’s not the case for Bama DT Jesse Williams.
As reported by USA Today the Australian defensive tackle loves his ‘bizarre’ tattoos. One of his many tattoos is a simple text of the acronym ‘YOLO’ short for ‘you only live once’ the popular phrase coined by Drake.
Curious journalists couldn’t help but ask about his multitude of ink, more so than what he actually brings to the field. Williams is taking it all in stride though and said
“I don’t really think too highly of people who disagree with tattoos,”
“It’s pretty common nowadays. It’s how people show their interior by displaying it on their exterior. For me, it’s simple reminders about my family and what I come from. They mean a lot to me and get me through a lot of tough situations.”
Some of the other tattoos Williams has is one of a flower sans color which is on the back of his shaved head, a smiley face tattoo on his ear lobe, the words ‘fear is a liar’ etched on his scalp among others.
Williams doesn’t think the tattoos will hurt his draft chances, as of now he’s slated to be a last first round pick or early second round pick. Due to off season surgery for a knee injury he won’t be running in the combine, but hopes to beat the combine record of 51 reps on 225 pounds on the bench press.
Let’s wish him luck.
