Terrible news, thoughts and prayers are with Johnson and his family and friends.
The Israel Basketball Association says former Texas Longhorns player Gary Johnson has been put in a medically induced coma after being hospitalized with head injuries.
IBA spokesman Hagai Segal says Johnson, a forward who plays for Israeli team Hapoel Galil Elyon, is being treated for a fractured skull and doctors are checking for any other possible damage. Segal says Johnson’s condition is not life threatening and he will be woken up Wednesday.
Johndre Jefferson, who plays for Elitzur Ramla, tweeted Tuesday that the 6-foot-6 Johnson was injured after Jefferson “accidentally elbowed” Johnson in the forehead and “cracked his skull.”
