During the final play of Super Bowl 47, the 49ers had a chance to return a punt from the Ravens after Baltimore took a safety.
We know Ted Ginn may not have scored, but crazier things have happened. Pro Football Talk is reporting that in a NFL SoundFX special soon to be aired, Joe Flacco can be heard urging teammates to run on the field and tackle Ginn if he has a chance to score.
“If he starts to break it, go tackle him,” Flacco told tight end Dennis Pitta.
“Really?” Pitta said.
“I don’t know,” Flacco added. “I mean what else — what could they — I don’t know. I mean, they might be able to give him a touchdown on that, but I don’t know.”
We are not sure if Flacco was joking or not, but he continued to urge his teammates.
“I will,” Flacco then said. “I’m going to.”
NFL rules suggest an official can award a touchdown if something like that were to happen.
