Yesterday we reported that the San Francisco 49ers had announced that they already had a trade suitor lined up for quarterback Alex Smith, but simply couldn’t announce it until the league year starts in March.
That left many to speculate on who the teams were that might want to trade for Smith. Experts mentioned the Chiefs, Cardinals, and possibly Jacksonville Jaguars as potential suitors for Smith.
NFL.com is reporting that you can remove the Jags from that list, Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell confirmed that the team will not be pursuing the services of Smith.
The Jaguars who have $22 million in cap space, are trying to build a team for long term success, and that means seeing if Blaine Gabbert has the skills to be a starter in the league.
