I am going to assume this is a form letter that Coach K sent out to all the recruits who chose a different school than Duke.

Probably an assistant hands him a stack, he signs them and they mail them all out. I bet there are 1000s of former college basketball players who are reading this now and saying to themselves.

“Wait…I thought I was the only one who got a personalized letter from Coach K.”

Any time you put the phrase “fine young man” in a letter, it is probably a form document.  Like the ones you get when you apply for a job and they try to make you feel better since they didn’t hire you.

Even though, Coach K didn’t get Jordan he has done alright for himself in the last 30 years or so.
