Mike Vick Says Prayer And Training Will Keep Him Healthy
Michael Vick has one more shot with the Philadelphia Eagles. Vick knows Chip Kelly’s offense fits his skill set, so he reconstructed his contract and now has a one year potentially $10 million deal.
Vick has to stay healthy, and the $10 million question is how. Vick was on 94 WIP radio yesterday, and told Michael Barkann, that prayer and training will help him get through the season.
“We’ll see. I don’t know what else to you? I can’t give you no explanation for that. It’s probably one of the toughest questions you’ve asked me since we’ve been talking. I don’t know. I think just to train—train hard and pray to God. That’s gonna be my motto. Hopefully I can sustain 16 games. If I’m out there—go out there and put forth your best effort and see what happens. That’s it,” Vick said.
“We also have to realize, and I think you guys need to take into account that I was hit 170 times last year before I even went down. That’s the most I ever been hit before I even got hurt. So, I kept getting up. My body was trained and conditioned to go the distance last year, it was just the fact that I got a head injury and that kind of took me out. That was kind of an out of the blue concussion. It just happened. Other than that, I got hit a lot and I got up, and I’m going to do the same thing this year. I’ll get hit a lot, I’ll get up. That’s what it’s all about. I mean, you just gotta train, you gotta prepare yourself, you gotta condition yourself, and the good thing is I know how to do that.”
If Vick can stay healthy and make good choices with the ball, Vick could have a marvelous 2013 season. That’s a big if.
