Marquise Goodwin NFL Combine 40 Time

Titans running back Chris Johnson’s record 4.24 40-yard dash will stay intact for at least another 24 hours.  The official results from today’s initial 40-yard dash drill at the NFL Combine are in, and Texas wide receiver Marquise Goodwin finished at the top of the receiver group with an official 4.27 time.

Many people, including Goodwin, speculated that the ex-Texas wide receiver could break Johnson’s time from the 2008 combine based on Goodwin’s background as an elite track and field athlete.  However, even Goodwin’s unofficial 4.25 was not enough to eclipse Johnson’s mark.

Other notable 40-yard dash times from the wide receiver group included: West Virginia WR Tavon Austin (4.34 official after 4.25 unofficial), Texas A&M WR Ryan Swope (4.34 official), Tennessee WR Cordarrelle Patterson (4.42 official) and Michigan’s Denard Robinson (4.43 official).

Tavon Austin has been compared to Percy Harvin and Randall Cobb, while many project that Goodwin will be selected in the later rounds this April.

Eastern Kentucky wide receiver Tyrone Goard, who told BSO last week that he would surprise scouts with his 40 time, ran an official 4.50.

Stay tuned to BSO for continued combine updates.
