Well, well, well, it appears as if the prodigal son is yearning to be reunited with a man who he has repeatedly called a “father figure” in Sir Alex Ferguson.
There continues to be speculation in Europe that Manchester United want to bring back arguably the best soccer player in the world in Ronaldo, who blossomed at Old Trafford for six years before forcing a move to Spain in 2009 for a world record fee.
Ronaldo over the years has made no secret of the fact that he misses his former club, and in recent months has voiced his displeasure with Madrid for the perceived lack of support they have shown him, especially when it comes to competing for the Ballon d’Or (world’s best player) in an ongoing rivalry with Barcelona’s Messi.
In a recent interview with GQ Spain Ronaldo was asked if a reunion was in the cards for him and Manchester United, he responded by saying:
Working with the best professionals is always an honour. I only have gratitude towards Ferguson. He’s fantastic as a coach and as a player.
In the world of soccer rumors are thrown around everyday like loose change, but the fact that this story just won’t die means that there’s a strong chance it might happen and I’m willing to bet that Ferguson and United fans will welcome their long lost son back home with open arms.
