As we’ve been reporting for weeks now, Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs need a quarterback. The Chiefs have several needs on their roster, and the ability to trade for a quarterback and draft the best overall player with the #1 pick would definitely push them back in the right direction.
Andy Reid would like to trade for Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, but sources say Foles will not be traded, and will compete for the Eagles job.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com is reporting that a more likely and successful scenario to play out, would have the Chiefs being able to trade for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith, therefor allowing them to draft Texas A&M left tackle Luke Joeckel with the #1 pick.
The ability to trade for a veteran such as Alex Smith would speed the rebuild in Kansas City, and prevent the Chiefs from having to use the #1 pick on a quarterback who’s not a sure thing in this draft.
