Report: JaMarcus Russell holding Pro Day in April
Typically, incoming NFL draft prospects are the ones who hold pro days for scouts and NFL teams. In a rehearsed performance, prospects put their skills on display to perhaps up their stock or solidify themselves as a top prospect. While this is common practice for incoming prospects, it appears an already drafted player is attempting to use the same opportunity to help his comeback attempt.
Former number 1 overall pick and Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell is attempting to return to the NFL. While him wanting to play and prove himself is a good first step, the real key will be whether or not a team is willing to take a chance on the quarterback. According to Tony Pauline of draftinsider.net, Russell will be holding a pro day on or around April 10th and he will have the help of an elite receiver to catch his passes.
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald will be on the receiving end of Russell’s throws, so at the very least perhaps Fitzgerald can make Russell look good.
For the record, JaMarcus Russell has been out of the NFL since 2009.
