Derek Fisher is the Jason Voorhees of Point Guards, he will never retire at this rate. Played decently with the Thunder last year and bowed out with the Mavericks after a couple of games this year. He has been getting back in shape after an early season knee injury and appears he had a suitor waiting for him.
Yahoo is reporting the Thunder have officially signed him.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have reached agreement to sign veteran guard Derek Fisher for the remainder of the season, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Fisher, 38, signed with the Thunder late last season and helped Oklahoma City make its push to the NBA Finals. He joined the Dallas Mavericks early this season and played nine games in December before suffering a knee injury. He asked the Mavericks to release him, so he could spend more time with his family.
The question begs why didn’t the Thunder just keep Maynor? Maybe, they feel they need Fisher’s veteran leadership to keep an eye out on Russell Westbrook, but whatever the case he is back now.
