The Colt McCoy era is set to come to an end in Cleveland. The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that the Browns will release McCoy or trade him for a late round pick in the coming days.
McCoy, a third-round pick by the Browns out of Texas, is now expendable after Cleveland signed former Bears quarterback Jason Campbell to a two-year contract.
McCoy, who was supposed to be the future at quarterback for the franchise, is not a match for the downfield, vertical passing game of new coach Rob Chudzinski and offensive coordinator Norv Turner.
