Adrian Wilson

It’s that time of the year where NFL teams have to make tough decisions and tough cuts.

According to USA Today, the Arizona Cardinals have let 5-time Pro Bowler Adrian Wilson that they will no longer be needing his services.

The team announced Friday it had cut ties with Wilson after 12 seasons in Arizona.

Wilson, 33, made five Pro Bowls since the Cardinals drafted him in 2001, and he was the team’s longest tenured player.

Wilson took a $3.5 million pay cut in July 2012 rather than risk being released. He was scheduled to make a base salary of $2.5 million in 2013.

Cardinals president Michael Bidwell said in a statement that Wilson, who had 27 interceptions and 25 1/2 sacks for Arizona, will eventually join the franchise’s Ring of Honor.

Wilson posted a statement on Instagram thanking the fans for all their support throughout the years.

“It’s been a honor and a pleasure Cardinal fans. 12 years of heart and dedication and loyalty. 1 day we’ll celebrate the #24 together,” Wilson wrote.

I’m pretty sure Wilson won’t be on the free agent market for too long.
