A Florida man who scammed a die-hard 49ers fan out of her Super Bowl tickets has been arrested according to The San Jose Mercury News.
The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office say 37-year-old Robert Pham is the man accused of pretending to be a Ravens fan and advertising Super Bowl tickets for sale on Craigslist.
Pham ended up scamming 49ers fan Sharon Osgood out of $5,900 and her Super Bowl tickets. Authorities say Pham had likely scammed other people before, and even told police he was a lieutenant in the Navy Reserve and that his father-in-law was the Ravens’ physical therapist.
authorities also found 15 different addresses ranging from Florida to Las Vegas and multiple bank accounts linked to Pham.
Pham is being held in Coral Gables, and his bail has been set at $20,000. He has been charged with one count of felony theft by false pretenses.
Pham claims he sent the tickets and someone else had to have removed them from the package but authorities say evidence doesn’t support his chain of events.
Osgood who says she’ll never use Craigslist for tickets again, still got to attend the game thanks to the 49ers, StubHub and Ticketmaster.
“We got to go to the game, and that’s all we ever wanted,” Osgood said. “Yeah, we lost $5,900, but we still got to the game, and we had an awesome time.”
