Greg Popovich Says Tony Parker Will Be Out a While With Sprained Ankle
Bad news for San Antonio Spurs fans and Parker for MVP supporters, alike, as Parker has now been diagnosed with an ankle sprain.
ESPN is reporting a confirmation of an ankle sprain Spurs MVP caliber point guard Tony Parker suffered in the 130-1102 win tonight vs the Sacramento Kings.
Parker went down in the 3rd quarter after he went down awkwardly on his left ankle, he already had 13 points and 7 assists in the game.
This comes as a blow to the Spurs, who have an injured Boris Diaw, Stephen Jackson and Gary Neal already. This also throws a wrench into any attempts Parker had at eclipsing Lebron for MVP nods, as Lebron has been a model of health and resilience over the course of an 82 game season.
Head coach Gregg Popovich offered a grim prognosis: “He’ll be out a while. It’s a good one. We’ll miss him.”
