Former Notre Dame middle linebacker Manti Te’o had a rough going at the NFL combine. Dealing with numerous questions about his hoax girlfriend, Manti knew his time there would be stressful.
Not many expected the star linebacker to perform the way he did on the field though. Looking slow and out of shape, Manti posted a 4.82 40 yard dash. Considered slow for a NFL linebacker.
While many have Te’o’s stock sliding, he opened up to Brian Hamilton of the Chicago Tribune, and offered his thoughts about his disappointing results.
“Obviously, faster than a 4.8,” Te’o said. “We’ll see what happens.”
“I think the 40 time measures what the 40 time is supposed to measure,” Te’o said. “I think that’s something that I’m going to get better. The only way from here is up, so I’m definitely going to get better at that. I think, as far as play, I think what’s on the film, that’s the play. Obviously, I can get faster in my 40.”
Manti’s pro day at Notre Dame will be key to help solidify his draft stock and cement his spot as a first round talent.
His first step at the pro day will be to run a much better 40 time.
