The NFL Competition Committee has proposed a rule to make it illegal for a runner to lower his shoulders, and lead with the crown of his helmet when attacking a defender outside the tackle box.
Former NFL great Emmitt Smith gave his opinion on the matter, and said that “the league had lost its mind.”
Now a current player in weighing in on the matter, and he doesn’t agree with it at all. Bears running back Matt Forte took to his Twitter account to address the matter, and he called the proposed rule change “absurd.”
The proposed rule change for running backs might be the most absurd suggestion of a rule change I’ve ever heard of.

I still struggle to understand how a runner whether he is going through the hole or outside the box is supposed to run behind his pads without lowering their shoulders.
The NFL has to do better.
