Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick may be close to five years removed from serving prison time for dog fighting, but that doesn’t mean people still aren’t mad.

Birds 24/7 is reporting that Vick has had to cancel public appearance at three different book signings in three different states because of threats to his family, himself, Barnes and Noble book stores, employees, and the property.

Vick was set to sign copies of his book, “Michael Vick: Finally Free” at three Barnes and Noble locations: in Atlanta, New Jersey and Exton, Pa. All have been cancelled because of safety concerns. The Atlanta appearance was scheduled for this Saturday.

“While we stand by Michael Vick’s right to free speech and the retailers’ right to free commerce, we cannot knowingly put anyone in harm’s way, and therefore we must announce the cancellation of Mr. Vick’s book-signing appearances,” said Byron Williamson, president of Worthy Publishing. “We’ve been assured these threats of violence, which have been reported to the police, are being taken very seriously by local authorities.”

Threats towards Vick and his family have been on the upswing recently, and authorities have deemed all of them credible.

Barnes and Nobles Facebook page has been flooded with threats recently similar to these.

“I would go there to slit your throat knowing how you treat animals.”

“hope your kids don’t fall in a pool with a battery.”

“I would snap your neck if I met you, your [sic] a piece of trash.”

Vick has received a myriad of threats since admitting that his family has become the owner of a dog, specifically a dog for his daughters.

Vick aware of the backlash released this statement previously.

“I understand the strong emotions by some people about our family’s decision to care for a pet,” said Vick back in October. “As a father, it is important to make sure my children develop a healthy relationship with animals. I want to ensure that my children establish a loving bond and treat all of God’s creatures with kindness and respect. Our pet is well cared for and loved as a member of our family. This is an opportunity to break the cycle. To that end, I will continue to honor my commitment to animal welfare and be an instrument of positive change.”

Regardless of the recent hate mail, and backlash, Michael Vick has indeed changed for the better.  His community outreach efforts and dealings with the Humane Society have drew immense praise for the once troubled quarterback.

It’s shame that people can’t understand that people make mistakes, and at this point in his life, Michael Vick is doing way more good than bad and that should be commended.

Why these redneck, peckerwood, keyboard ‘wansters’ closet participaters dont never say nothing in public when the REAL fans are around?

Red neck? the people who threaten his life and his family are wrong. But Vick is not remorseful read the case He has PR people are the ones prompting him to give money and do speeches about dog fighting . He would still be doing it IF he had not been caught.

      • KK says:

Remorseful????…. according to whose standard. Where are these same folks with an up raw over Pistorious who killed his girlfriend in cold blood? Where is the upraw over the hockey player ho killed his teammate by drinking and driving….When yall (people who find any shread of negativity against Vick) can play the game on both sides of the ball or both sides of the race card, then yall can talk to me about remorse.

The damage is done.It is over mike did his time.Leave the man alone.Let him live his life. They all hipocrits. You have a man trying to redeem his self and you people act like you god “god forgives” ignorant people “dont”.Numerous people in entertainment have committed worst felonies then what he did and you people say nothing.I saw a lady give her wealth to her dog and denounce her own grand kids.I saw a man on TV say he hates VICK for what he did.The same man beats his wife and goes deer hunting. When they asked him about deer hunting he said “the deer has the advantage”. When they asked him about the beating he gives his wife he said”I am a man”.this same man is an ESPN analyst and makes it very clear he does not like vike. The NFL is allowing people to freely hit vick (head to head) and that in it self should be looked at by the media.Truth be told they trying to bring his carrerr to an end yet look at rothlisberger (the rapist).Hypocrits

White people are the most evil pieces of shit to walk this earth. They fucked their dogs and children. They are all talk, on the streets we beat them down as often as possible. Child and dog fuckers. Piss on them after we stump their heads in.

I see we have some bigger thugs than even Mike The Dog Killer commenting here today. Way to perpetuate the stereotype folks. Making the Black Community look real civilized you are. Nice, real nice.

  7. TOO REAL says:

He’s has the nerve to say God’s creatures. They were God’s creatures when you killed them. Sorry just because they walk on four legs doesn’t make what he did any less hateful. Plexico isn’t being forgiven because he accidently hurt (not killed) someone who walks on two legs (himself) but Vick should be forgiven when he purposely killed more than one of GOD’S CREATURES. He didn’t think about his kids then or the ramifications of his actions. Since everyone thinks he made a mistake so lets all forgive him and after we do let us let CHARLES MANSON out, he didn’t kill anyone he just told stupid people to do it.
