Mike Vick Cancels Book Signing After His Children’s Lives are Threatened

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick may be close to five years removed from serving prison time for dog fighting, but that doesn’t mean people still aren’t mad.

Birds 24/7 is reporting that Vick has had to cancel public appearance at three different book signings in three different states because of threats to his family, himself, Barnes and Noble book stores, employees, and the property.

Vick was set to sign copies of his book, “Michael Vick: Finally Free” at three Barnes and Noble locations: in Atlanta, New Jersey and Exton, Pa. All have been cancelled because of safety concerns. The Atlanta appearance was scheduled for this Saturday.

“While we stand by Michael Vick’s right to free speech and the retailers’ right to free commerce, we cannot knowingly put anyone in harm’s way, and therefore we must announce the cancellation of Mr. Vick’s book-signing appearances,” said Byron Williamson, president of Worthy Publishing. “We’ve been assured these threats of violence, which have been reported to the police, are being taken very seriously by local authorities.”

Threats towards Vick and his family have been on the upswing recently, and authorities have deemed all of them credible.

Barnes and Nobles Facebook page has been flooded with threats recently similar to these.

“I would go there to slit your throat knowing how you treat animals.”

“hope your kids don’t fall in a pool with a battery.”

“I would snap your neck if I met you, your [sic] a piece of trash.”

Vick has received a myriad of threats since admitting that his family has become the owner of a dog, specifically a dog for his daughters.

Vick aware of the backlash released this statement previously.

“I understand the strong emotions by some people about our family’s decision to care for a pet,” said Vick back in October. “As a father, it is important to make sure my children develop a healthy relationship with animals. I want to ensure that my children establish a loving bond and treat all of God’s creatures with kindness and respect. Our pet is well cared for and loved as a member of our family. This is an opportunity to break the cycle. To that end, I will continue to honor my commitment to animal welfare and be an instrument of positive change.”

Regardless of the recent hate mail, and backlash, Michael Vick has indeed changed for the better.  His community outreach efforts and dealings with the Humane Society have drew immense praise for the once troubled quarterback.

It’s shame that people can’t understand that people make mistakes, and at this point in his life, Michael Vick is doing way more good than bad and that should be commended.

  • I see we have some bigger thugs than even Mike The Dog Killer commenting here today. Way to perpetuate the stereotype folks. Making the Black Community look real civilized you are. Nice, real nice.

He’s has the nerve to say God’s creatures. They were God’s creatures when you killed them. Sorry just because they walk on four legs doesn’t make what he did any less hateful. Plexico isn’t being forgiven because he accidently hurt (not killed) someone who walks on two legs (himself) but Vick should be forgiven when he purposely killed more than one of GOD’S CREATURES. He didn’t think about his kids then or the ramifications of his actions. Since everyone thinks he made a mistake so lets all forgive him and after we do let us let CHARLES MANSON out, he didn’t kill anyone he just told stupid people to do it.

  • would love to do to him what he did to them poor dogs. if he didnt get caught he would still be a murderer i do not feel bad for him at all. doesnt deserve anything in life but pain
