Athletic directors, boosters and fan bases are running very impatient now a days. After leading his team to a victory that may have cost Ben Howland his job at UCLA, CBSSports.com is reporting that Minnesota has fired Tubby Smith today after 6 seasons.
Smith has spent the past six seasons with the Gophers and his tenure ends with a 124-81 overall mark and a 46-62 record in Big Ten play.
The 61-year-old Smith finally won his first NCAA tournament game at the school this past week against UCLA. Athletic Director Norwood Teague and associate AD Mike Ellis were responsible for hiring Shaka Smart at VCU, and all signals point to them trying to lure Smart to Minnesota.
