The Green Bay Packers are now shifting their focus to their star quarterback, and for the first time, are openly talking about getting a long term deal for Aaron Rodgers done.
Team President Mark Murphy told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that getting Rodgers signed to a long term deal that would make him the games highest paid player is now their priority.
“It’s a priority,” Murphy said. “I think as an organization, I think we all want to see that get done.”
Murphy stated that the team should have no problem coming up with the $120 plus million and over $50 million guaranteed that would be needed to appease Rodgers.
“It’s not an issue at all,” Murphy said. “I think we’ve talked through with Russ and Ted and we have more than enough resources to do whatever they need to do.”
Expect Rodgers and the Packers to make quick work of Joe Flacco being the highest paid player in league history. Sometime before the regular season starts, look for a 6 or 7 year deal worth more than $125 million.
