When the Baltimore Ravens and quarterback Joe Flacco agreed to a NFL record 6-year deal worth $120.6 million, we knew it was only a matter of time before Aaron Rodgers of the Packers received a big payday . Rodgers is in the second to last year of his current contract which pays him a base salary of $9.25 million, an amount considerably low compared to other star quarterbacks right now.
But reportedly that could all change very soon. Because according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rodgers and the Packers are very close to an agreement on a new contract that would make Aaron the new highest paid player in NFL history. Something Joe Flacco currently holds the title to.
While we don’t know the amount of Rodgers’ deal just yet, there is speculation that his yearly salary could be in the area of $25 million a season.
I’m sure Rodgers will discount double check to that.
