Report: Bucs Offer 2014 1st & 2nd Round Picks To Jets For Darrelle Revis
The Buccaneers are still the only team we hear in regards to the Revis trade, and it appears they are not going away quietly. The Star Ledger via Peter King of Sports Illustrated is reporting that Tampa Bay has offered the Jets their 2104 1st and 2nd round picks for Revis.
According to a report from Sports Illustrated’s Peter King, though, the Buccaneers have upped the ante to include both their first and second-round picks in 2014 and to also pay Revis roughly $15 million per season in an extension. This, despite not knowing if the corner is fully healthy.
The report says that the sticking point remains Tampa Bay’s first-round pick in 2013, which the Jets apparently covet. This would give them the No. 9 and No. 13 overall picks next month. King added that nothing got done in Arizona to move negotiations forward.
For the moment, the Jets don’t seem to be jumping at the offer.
New Jets GM John Idzik is committing career suicide at this point. The Jets are salary cap strapped and definitely in rebuild mode.
I understand his wanting to have the #9 and #13 pick in this years draft, but if he ends up holding on to Revis and making no deal, he’s going to allow the top defensive back in football to walk in 2014 for nothing.
His job is to get the best possible deal, and getting picks in 2014 is a good deal. that would give the Jets two first and two second round picks next season when even more money comes off their books.
