The city of Los Angeles is hoping to go 3 for 3 when it comes to hosting the Olympics. After hosting the event in 1932 and 1984, the city will bid to host the event for the 2024 Olympic Games. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa sent this letter to USOC [United States Olympic Committee].
Per LA Times: “I am pleased to confirm our enthusiastic interest in bidding to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
“Our City Council passed a resolution of support for a 2024 bid… We proud of our city’s sports heritage and tradition, and we stand ready to work with you to bring the Olympics Games back to the United States.”
Los Angeles will bid against Paris, Rome, Dubai, Durban, and South Africa for the right to host the 2024 Summer Games.
We’ll have to see who the International Olympic Committee ultimately decides on. They have time to deliberate, as the decision won’t be announced until 2017/
