The Revis Island show will be moving to a new city this up coming NFL season. The only thing to figure out is where and for how much.
The New York Daily News is reporting this morning that two or three legitimate options for Revis have surfaced, and that according to a source close to the situation, “he’s gone.”
“He’s gone,” a source familiar with the situation said Tuesday. “This is happening. They’re moving him. They can’t keep him. They’re rebuilding. They’re starting fresh.”
Those sources say the 49ers who were mentioned from day one, could be a possible destination, and you can now the Atlanta Falcons, who lost to San Francisco in the NFC Championship Game a few weeks ago.
The move makes sense for both teams, as they work to one, keep Revis away from the other, knowing full well whoever lands him is now the front-runner in the NFC.
Sources have indicated that Woody Johnson had no intention of paying Revis the $12 to $14 million per season that he covets.
Revis for his part seems fine with the move, after saying that he thought he could put the 49ers over the top. He also added that he will be back to him dominant self.
“Revis Island will be back on the field soon,” the shutdown cornerback said. “I don’t know. We’ll see where the future leads to… if I’ll be back with the Jets or not. It really doesn’t matter. I just want to play football.”
