I think both Stan Van Gundy and Dwight Howard, know they could have handled things a lot better in Orlando. Dwight probably understands that Van Gundy, was the type of coach that made him a better player and Van Gundy realizes, maybe he should have kept some things private, instead of going to the media.
All that is in the past now, but with Dwight Howard returning to Orlando tonight, Van Gundy was asked his thoughts, about what went down.
“At first, there were times when he needed to be more serious,” he said. “But as it went on, he understood, for the most part, being serious when we had work to do. There were other times when he could relax and have a good time.
“Even in practice and games, Dwight’s a guy who wants to have a good time and enjoy what he’s doing and have a smile on his face. That’s just the way he is. I don’t think that will ever change.”
When Van Gundy was asked, if he would watch the game tonight, here is what he had to say.
“If I’m home, I’ll turn it on,” he said. “I won’t change my plans to watch it.”
The fan reaction will be harsh, but nothing outrageous. I don’t think Magic fans care that much anymore about Dwight or their current team for that matter.
