Thunder Fan Hits Half-Court Shot, Using the $20K to pay Wife’s Cancer Bills (Video)
Rarely does it get better than this.
Between the third and fourth quarters of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 122-105 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at Chesapeake Energy Arena on Tuesday night, Heath Kufahl a Thunder fan was chosen to take a half-court shot for $20,000. Kufahl, who is a volleyball and basketball coach in Del City Oklahoma, then proceeded to coolly sink the shot before going absolutely crazy with excitement.
Well it turns out that that there was much more to this story according to a youth basketball coach who knows the Kufahl family and resides in Oklahoma.
“It’s always cool to see someone make that shot, but for the Kufahls and their seven children, it means a bit more: Heath’s wife, Jenni, was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in October of 2012. The money will be used for mounting medical bills”
Here is the moment.
