Eddie Lacy entered the pre-draft workout phase as the consensus #1 running back available in the NFL Draft.
Lacy is still the top running back, but has face some criticism for being out of shape during his workout, when he was already unable to workout during the combine and Alabama’s pro day.
Lacy tho attributes that to injuries that caused him to not be in his best shape. He still feels he’s the best running back available in the draft, and as he told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, “he’s the complete package.”
“By the time it was anywhere close to 100%, I only had two weeks to train,” Lacy said. “Everybody knows that two weeks is not enough time, pretty much to do anything. I went out there, I did the best I could do and I got through everything, but there was really nothing I could do about it.”
Lacy told the Journal Sentinel multiple times that he’s the “complete package.”
“I don’t want to say it’s rare, but those only come around every once in a while,” Lacy said. “You have guys who are fast and can get around the outside but they can’t really get the tough yards. Then you have the bigger backs who can get those tough yards, but they’re not agile enough to make a defender miss.
“I’m pretty much as complete as it gets.”
There are plenty of teams who need a workhorse every down back. You can include The Pittsburgh Steelers, St. Louis Rams, Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos and New York Jets as teams who’ll be checking for Lacy when they are on the clock.
