Milwaukee Bucks v Miami Heat

Brandon Jennings and the Milwaukee Bucks are starting to feel the heat (no pun intended) after the point guard made a guarantee some would label absurd.

Prior to the 23-point mauling at the hands of the Miami Heat in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference first round match up on Sunday, Jennings, said that he saw his team disposing of the reigning champs in six games.

After those comments became public, as expected, the Bucks brash point guard was heavily ridiculed; and after shootaround on Sunday, Jennings defended his comments according to the Palm Beach Post.

“I mean, what else am I supposed to say?” Jennings said. “Let’s try our best and hopefully we win a game? Nah.  I mean, you’re supposed to say, I want to win. At the end of the day, everybody is writing us off anyway. So I don’t know why my comments are so like crazy, like ‘I can’t believe he said that.’ Everybody is writing us off anyway, so I’m just defending our team.”

Personally, I would’ve gone with “let’s try our best and hopefully win a game ,” or at least say you would beat them in seven games. With that said, I do believe that Jennings’ heart was in the right place, but his mouth may have written a check his behind can’t cash.

I know the Heat would’ve in all likelihood disposed of them easily sans Jennings comments but you’ve got to let sleeping dogs lie.

I agree with Jennings, nothing wrong with what he said in my opinion….and I’m not buying that the Heat are playing “harder” because of what he said…..
