The read option is all the rave this NFL off-season. Whether you want to install it into your offense, or try to stop it, as almost every team in the NFL is trying to do, read option is the flavor right now.
NFL teams are spreading out their scouts and assistants, and sending them to college campuses to learn all they can about the offensive system.
One college assistant they won’t get any help from is Jim Mastro of Washington State. Around The League is reporting that Mastro who helped former coach Chris Ault develop the Pistol formation at Nevada, is refusing to assist anyone with stopping the offense while Colin Kaepernick is still in the NFL.
Kaepernick who was a record-breaking quarterback at Nevada, is family to Mastro.
“As long as Colin is in the NFL, I’m not going to do that,” Mastro told CBSSports.com last month. “He is like a son to me. There are plenty of people (NFL teams) can get a hold of that can help them.”
Don’t worry NFL teams, you can always send them to Texas A&M, Oregon, or Clemson.
