The Atlanta Falcons are trying to give quarterback Matt Ryan a mega contract extension and to do so they have to cut some salary.
Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Falcons are set to release stud right tackle Tyson Clabo. Clabo has been made 101 starts since joining the Falcons in 2006.
Clabo has started every game since 2008 and made a pro bowl in 2010. Atlanta is currently on $2.5 million under the cap, and cutting Clabo would free up about $4.5 million more, which they could use on a Ryan extension.
That could end up being a giant hole on the right side of the line. Clabo is possibly the Falcons best lineman, and why pay Ryan a ton of money if you can’t protect him.
