J.J. Redick says that he Hasn’t Spoken to Bucks Coach During Playoffs

J.J. Redick

So I guess this means that J.J. Redick won’t be re-signing with the Milwaukee Bucks after his contract expires after the season.

It’s been all downhill for the Bucks since point guard Brandon Jennings guaranteed that they would beat the Miami Heat in six games. They’ve been soundly defeated in three straight games and are on their way to being swept by the reigning champions.

Now comes news of inner turmoil within the team as the recently acquired Redick has seen his playing time curtailed significantly during the playoffs mainly due to his poor shooting.

And according to Charles Gardner of the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel, the guard who bounced back in Game 3, says that there has been no communication between him and Bucks head coach Jim Boylan.

Bucks coach Jim Boylan said in his pregame remarks that he told Redick to shoot with confidence but Redick disputed that.

“Jim never talked to me,” Redick said. “He didn’t say anything to me. I haven’t spoken to him during the playoffs. I did not get that message.

“I don’t need anybody telling me to be confident. I would have appreciated it.

“It wasn’t a matter of Jim or my dad or my wife or God saying be confident.

“Be on the court, take your shots. They’ll be there.”

This issue doesn’t bode well for the Bucks going forward, they are now in danger of losing three of their best guards in Redick, Jennings, and Monta Ellis to free agency in the summer. They gave up a very promising player in Tobias Harris in the Redick trade at the deadline with the intention of making a strong playoff push and re-signing him but now it appears both scenarios are high unlikely.
