Jets head coach Rex Ryan released this brief statement.
“We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow,” Ryan said. “Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped.”
GM John Idzik informed Tebow of his decision to cut him early Monday morning. The Jets now have five quarterbacks on the roster including Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith, David Garrard, Greg McElroy and Matt Simms.
With the arrival of Smith, there were to many quarterbacks on the roster and guys needed to go. The question now is where will Tebow land?
