Kirk Cousins Says He’ll Be Ready If RG3 Is Not
Washington Redskins backup quarterback Kirk Cousins knows he has some value and his patiently biding his time to start whether it be in D.C. or for another franchise.
All signs point to RG3 being ready for the prime time season opener against the Cowboys in week 1. If for some reason RG3 is not ready to go, Cousins says “he’ll be ready to go” according to the Detroit Free Press.
“What I do know is I need to be ready and I will be,” said Cousins a fourth-round pick of the Redskins a year ago who threw for 466 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie, leading Washington to a win over Cleveland after Griffin hurt the knee. “And I will benefit greatly from the reps I get throughout (off-season workouts) as well as training camp and preseason games this coming August. I do believe he’s gonna heal very quickly. I don’t want to put any pressure on him to heal as fast as an Adrian Peterson, did but it wouldn’t surprise me.”
“It’s just a matter of staying patient and understanding that my career is a marathon and not a sprint,” Cousins said. “I’ve just got to make the most of the opportunities I get, and if I do, I’ll get a chance to be a starter in this league at some point.”
Cousins time will come, probably in a different city, but it will come. All he needs is to be patient.Powered by Sidelines
