NFL: Cleveland Browns-Rob Chudzinski Press Conference

As we’ve been reporting, the FBI has been relentless in their investigation of Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam, who is the CEO of Pilot Flying J, a company suspected of being fraudulent in their business transactions.

Tuesday Haslam stated that it would be business as usual for the Browns in the midst of such an intense investigation.  Now According ESPN Cleveland, the ongoing investigation into alleged fraud committed by his company could result in Haslam temporarily relinquishing control of the team.

“This is worse than a dark cloud.  This is a funnel cloud,” a source with knowledge of the legal system and the inner workings of the NFL told Grossi.

Haslam for his part maintains that his company is doing things the correct way.

“I maintain that the foundation of this company is built on its integrity and that any willful wrongdoing by any employee of this company at any time is intolerable,” Haslam said in a statement issued on Thursday.

Haslam has Joe Banner running his team and Michael Lombardi as the GM, so football related things should be taken care of.

On thing Haslam can do is essentially appoint a family member that has no ties to his other business to sit in as owner until things blow over.
