Shaq

Shaquille O’Neal and Dwight Howard have not always had the best relationship. So when Shaq was to have his jersey retired a couple nights ago by the Lakers at Staples Center, many wondered whether or not it would be awkward for Dwight. Well if it wasn’t awkward the night of the jersey retirement, the comments by Shaq regarding Dwight are sure to once again get under the centers skin.

Per ESPNLA, Shaq had this to say regarding Dwight.

“I would like to see him average 28 (points) and 10 (rebounds),” O’Neal said. “That’s the number that was thrown in my face, 28 and 10, so that’s the number I’m always going to throw in his face.

“”I’m not criticizing the guy; I’m just issuing a challenge,” O’Neal said. “I see a kid with a lot of talent. When I see him averaging 16 or 18 (points), that’s not enough for me.”

Even though Shaq is purely just issuing a challenge, Dwight will take it negatively because he has proven to be sensitive. Hopefully his play doesn’t take a turn for the worst once he hears these comments.
