The UFC is filled with talented athletes and bizarre back stories, Connor McGregor has both. Before his match with Marcus Brimage at UFC on Fuel TV 9 McGregor admitted to reporters that he needed this match and was on governement assistance as recently as last week.
“Just last week I was collecting the social welfare, you know what I mean? I was in saying to them like, “I don’t know what going to happen. I’m signed to the UFC. I don’t know what….blah, blah, blah.” But now I supposed I’m gonna have to tell them to f**k off!” – McGregor
His 1st round knockout, which can be seen below, netted him Knock Out of the Night honors and a $60,000 bonus. When asked what he’d do with the money he had this to say:
To be honest, I don’t know what’s going on here. I’m just happy I won $60K. I’m just thinking on what I’m going to spend it on. I’ll buy myself a car any way. A nice car, may be some suits or something. Custom made suits, I don’t know.
McGregor is a highly touted fighter and to be fair this was his UFC debut. It seems as though he is content with not needing welfare and living by the credo BMF, blowing money fast.
