The details are sketchy, but right now all we know is that Virginia Tech sophomore running back Michael Holmes has been arrested on assault charges and is being held without bond according to Virginia Tech Sports.
Holmes is being held at Montgomery County jail on two counts of simple assault and one count of malicious wounding, according to a spokesman for the jail.
The charges stem from a fight outside of Top Of The Stairs, a popular Blacksburg bar, late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Law enforcement sources would not confirm that information.
The felony charges carry an automatic suspension from the team until Holmes situation is resolved.
Holmes started at tailback in the Hokies spring game just a few days ago.
